SUMMER HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS – HOBART

THU JAN 12 | FRI JAN 13 | THU FEB 2 | FRI FEB 3 @ Cooper Screen Academy, 131 Macquarie St, Hobart

10am – 3pm | $100 / day| ages 9 – 14 only (why?)

PLEASE NOTE:  The Creative Cartooning intensives are for dedicated drawers, who enjoy being immersed in drawing for long periods of time.  If you think your child will have difficulty focusing for that long, please find them a more suitable activity as this is a class not a childcare program.

Please ensure your child brings plenty of (nut-free) food and drink for the day.  Students must stay onsite at all times.

These 5-hr workshops make use of innovative drawing games & processes Bradfield has designed over 25 years of teaching.  Drawing is an important creative thinking tool, and an excellent way to build connections in the brain, especially for children.  Drawing enables children to have fun (relaxed brain) while problem-solving (alert creative focused brain).

Each workshop is different, shaped by the ideas of the group.  There are structured activities which become springboards for either specific drawing concepts or open creative exploration.  There are times to free-draw.  Throughout the day, each student can make suggestions, contribute thoughts and share (or question) ideas.

The idea is to encourage a learning environment that is vibrant yet calming, inspiring and reflective, where the common bond is creativity.

Bradfield breaks down drawing by modelling simple ways to experiment with creative cartoon & drawing techniques.  These techniques can be applied to any style of drawing.

Students are encouraged to think about their process as they draw, to learn from each other & extend beyond their usual drawing habits.  Observation, line control & technique, focusing & making new connections are just some of the skills developed.

Limited to 12 spaces only!

Bradfield is a professional arts educator & illustrator, and has been teaching creative drawing and thinking skills for over 25 years.
